My first time, shame I don't actually have the time to go and see Rome_ITS0104
I'm here for about 4 hours  ( in the airport ) to catch a connecting flight to Trieste_ITS0109
So after a movie and a bit of hanging around, I'm back on a plane_ITS0116 Bye Rome airport ( you are in desperate need of more power point for people with their laptops )_ITS0118 Oh my, I had no idea it was this close to the sea, and look. . . there's a little 1-2 foot Mediterranean wave out there ( airport lefts ? )

En-route to Rome

Strawberries

IMG_2613
On the way home from Hilda's I just could not resist and get some strawberries from the farm as well, as they were a lot cheaper than at the markets or shop

Yippeee

While I was in the tree Hilda fixed my shorts for me, Yippee, been trying to get around to doing it for 10 days now. Thanks Hilda

Back in Belgium it is Cherry time

IMG_2590
We start this post with an empty bucket.
I landed in Cologne, Germany and from there had a 2 and a half hour drive back home, but passing near Lubbeek on the way , I just had to stop at Hilda and Wim's place. Hilda has been emailing me pictures of delicious looking cherries the past week, with one sentence. Come and pluck them. So , how could I resistIMG_2592 We set up the ladder ( the deal was , I could take anything above head high, so she could still pluck the lower ones without needing to get on a ladder, and rightly so, as the top of the tree's branches is covered with cherriesIMG_2593 So up I go IMG_2594 Strange, does not look that tall from this angleIMG_2595 Look how manyIMG_2596 IMG_2598 rain clouds in the backgroundIMG_2599 IMG_2603 IMG_2604 IMG_2606 IMG_2610 and we finish with a 3/4 bucket. I had to get down, as I was eating myself sick, 3 for the bucket one for the mouth, 4 for the bucket one for the mouth, three more for the bucket and one for me, and on it went like that, still I started feeling a bit sick :-)

Daniel Sannwald

Daniel was also in Dubrovnik all week, and had a photo exhibition on in the same place Tomislav did. And when the driver picked me up this morning, Daniel was already in the car, and bound for the same plane. So I turn the camera on to him for a quick chat

ok, back to the clouds

IMG_2562 IMG_2564 _DUB2218 The first two shots are taken without a polarizing filter where as this and the next two are_DUB2219 I don't know why I am getting these dark patches_DUB2220
But it is either the fact that it is a cheap ( bought in Hong Kong ) filter or something to do with the plastic window on the inside of the plane combined with the thick glass window, or maybe a combination of the two_DUB2222
so back to no filter_DUB2225
now I also mixed these shots up, some are taken with the G10 and some with Eos MK 2, can you spot the difference ?_DUB2236 _DUB2238 IMG_2567 IMG_2568 _DUB2246 IMG_2575 Deutschland IMG_2584 coming close to Cologne ( Koln )IMG_2587

Take off Dubrovnik airport

_DUB2211
Funny how the line of clouds line up with the runwayIMG_2550
looks like a nice little tucked away beach on the bottom of the road to the airport, well worth a closer inspection if I make it this way againIMG_2557 Dubrovnik form the air. At the last minute, I changed my window seat to the other side of the plane, glad I did , as otherwise would have been looking at just the seaIMG_2554
Now I added x's to this photo , to try and illustrate how the city was completely surrounded by the serbian army with artillery and there was a naval boat also firing from the sea, hiding behind the island, so no one from the city could target the boat. Here is a small article from the New York Times at the time
I was going to keep posting cloud pictures, untill I stumbled upon these
Innocent women and children died for no reason, as Dubrovnik had no military base and was of no military significance, so for the people living here , it was such a shock, like Sarajevo, it was normal one day and then wake up in the morning next day, the dawn of a long war zone

Time to leave Dubrovnik

IMG_2528
Up early this morning, no time to do anything today, like jump in this pool from my balcony, was thinking about it, but driver is already here to pick me up at 06:55 amIMG_2543 At the airport I find this picture of the hotel I was staying at, that's my room , 2nd from the leftIMG_2545 building a new terminal, not ready yet, maybe I'll be back here next year ?IMG_2546
